What is Body Positive

πŸ˜ƒ Your child practices self-acceptance, and welcomes their body and the way they look. When your child has a positive body image, it improves their well-being and self-esteem.

πŸ˜ƒ Your child practices self-care as they experience body satisfaction. They eat well, sleep well and exercise at a healthy level.

πŸ˜ƒ Your child has body awareness on how to keep a healthy posture, both standing and sitting, to minimise their hunching and risk for scoliosis

SOCIAL moments where your child can…

πŸ˜ƒ develop their socio-emotional skills to read social cues and practice empathy

πŸ˜ƒ take the courage to voice their thoughts and feelings in a safe space

πŸ˜ƒ learn to pause and listen to focus on themselves

πŸ˜ƒ hold their boundaries while also respecting others’ boundaries

πŸ˜ƒ be courageous even when they feel scared and uncertain

πŸ˜ƒ be resilient and push themselves a little more even when it is hard (the magic happens outside our comfort zone)

πŸ˜ƒ make their own risk assessment (eg: does my body feel safe in this situation, am I being safe for myself and others)

πŸ˜ƒ appreciate their freedom and be responsible for their actions and consequences

PHYSICAL activities that allow your child to …

πŸ˜ƒ practice more body awareness (good posture, move with muscles instead of joints, bear weight on their wrist / feet)

πŸ˜ƒ strengthen their muscles (children with a strong core are more resilient)

πŸ˜ƒ improve their coordination (integrating the left and right brain)

πŸ˜ƒ enhance their control and balance (regulate the body, regulate the mind)

πŸ˜ƒ stretch their muscles and joints (stretch the body, stretch their mental capacity)

I attended the "Art & Mastery of Long-lasting Relationship" workshop organised by Mindfulness Space last year. It was a game changer for me. The centering practice taught by the coaches was so powerful. I feel connected and rooted. It makes me feel like I have a third eye seeing things even in the midst of crisis. It saves me a lot of tears and heartaches! I benefit so much in all areas of my life esp my relationships and my health. When I feel triggered, frightened, stressed or even constipated, I practice my centering and it brings me peace. I feel safe once again! With that, I am able to build on expanding my emotional safety to my loved ones and people around me. It is so powerful. Life gets better, happier and of course, smoother even for my bowels :) Thank you Mindfulness Space and all the coaches. You are amazing!

Questions &Β Answers

My child is an introvert or scared

It is common to feel afraid and reserved when exploring something unfamiliar and new (even adults get scared!).

Observing is also part of learning. Be okay to allow your child to watch others and explore at their own pace. Permit them to listen to their needs and boundaries and know there is support when they are ready. Once children feel safe and secure, they naturally build more confidence and trust in themselves.

We empower children to voice out when they need support. This is a great moment to learn how to make requests and analyse what assistance they need.

Some parents request we stay near their children, and we politely set our boundaries and values here. Children cannot learn to trust themselves when the adults cannot trust them.

The hammock height is only at the hip or knee for aerial yoga. We practice supported risky play, where falling is also part of building body awareness and learning about risk assessment. (just like any other sports or activities – cycling, soccer, rollerblading, gymnastic and dance).

Good place and good programme to bond with my little one. He shows so much interest on everything that Ms Has shared. The bubble, the musical instruments, the balls, the movement, the songs. Always looking forward to attend this weekend class with my baby. 😊

I brought my class of 4 year olds to Mindful Space for a parent-child workshop on woodworking and the experience was wonderful! The program was organised and tailored to the needs and skills of the children. The teachers were very helpful and enthusiastically guided the children and parents during the activity. We also loved the space! It was calming and they had a beautiful garden for the children to explore.

My daughter enjoys her classes here. Especially the aerial yoga. Lovely teachers. All are very helpful and responsive to my queries. Recommend!
