There are many things mentioned to women before we become mothers. Like sleepless nights, tantrums and terrible twos. Or one of my favourite sayings “Small children small problems, big children big problems” and all that this entails.

One thing that no one told me or I find is not talked about enough is Motherly guilt. I don’t know about you but I was completely unprepared for the motherly guilt that seems to hit most mothers off guard.

What is motherly guilt exactly, why do we feel this and most importantly what to do when we feel this paralyzing emotion?

Motherly guilt is often a misunderstood emotion and the good news is that there are hands-on ways to work with this feeling to free us, mothers, from it’s grip.

Learn to work past this emotion and find ways to take care of yourself to calm the mind and tend to your heart.

It will not only benefit you but also your children.

Alice Wikström

A teacher and guide in Mindfulness and Compassion received her formal training from the University of California, Berkley’s Greater Good Science Center and The Awareness Training Institute. She also holds a certificate in Life Coaching and level 1 and 2 training in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).

Alice helps high-achieving women and men quiet their racing minds, open their hearts and reconnect to themselves, their families and others. She does this through Mindfulness-based coaching sessions (no previous experience with meditation is needed) and meets her clients in person or worldwide via Zoom. Alice cares deeply for emotional and mental health and holds both workshops and guided meditation circles for anyone interested to quiet the mind and tend to the heart.

Alice, originally from Sweden has spent the past 18 years in Asia and now lives with her husband and two daughters in Singapore.
